Lisa Jackson during her career has focused primarily on environmental concerns.She spent 16 years with the Environmental Protection Agency. In New Jersey she worked as the Assistant Commissioner for Land Use Management in 2005. Many of her efforts went towards education programs about the environment and the climate change issue. Her primary focus was cleaning up the water air and land in New Jersey. December 1, 2008 Lisa Jackson took over as Governor Corzine's Chief of Staff, that made her his top liaison. This title made her recognized as the second most powerful position in the state senate. On January 23, 2009 Lisa Jackson was made EPA Administrator by a unanimous vote. She is the first African-American to hold this position and only the fourth woman.
